In summer, Thursday evening and Friday morning are the real crush. Leaving before 7 am or after 2 pm usually saves an hour; midweek the road is clear all day.
We plan one comfort stop about halfway — restrooms and coffee — and still keep the times above, door to door.
A sedan suits a couple or a small family with two or three bags. For five people with a summer's worth of luggage, take the SUV. Groups of seven to ten — a whole house of friends — travel best in the V-Class or Hiace van, and we run buses for bigger groups.
